First day of Archeology
Today was my first day in Mr. Thames's archeology class. Class started off well, Mr. Thames was presenting his archaeological trip of Israel, and explaining what a real dig site looks like, and the work/equipment, and tasks involved in discovering artifacts. Mr. Thames then graciously ordered some pizza, but I couldn't have any :(. We got some gloves and equipment out of the storage boxes, and began to head out to the dig site behind the school near the baseball field. We started off removing the blue covers that soaked up all the rain from the break, and disposed of all the water. We began examining the area, I learned alot of things about a Romans house and the symmetry that they like to have. A house that had burned down, made of well cut bricks. There was alot of jewelery and various items indicating the owners wealth, while the house next door was built with simple stones found in certain areas, it could have possibly been the Roman's slave. There is still much to uncover in this expedition, and I hope there will be much more to learn.
